A CHUCKLE INSTEAD OF A FATWA

Night_of_the_living_dead_1I saw the commercial only once a few weeks ago, but I immediately had the same thought as Kathy Shaidle expressed in her blog "Relapsed Catholic":

>>What I want to know is: what is Burlington Coat Factory thinking? They're running b&w Night of the Living Dead-themed spots with zombies shuffling along, and the voice over is, "High prices have turned the Easter parade into a horror show".

>>So the agency's pitch was what: "Easter! Jesus rose from the dead! Zombies!! Huh, am I right? Huh?"<<

The commercial is, of course, profane, but I couldn't help but laugh at the cluelessness of the smarmy ad execs who must have thought the zombies were a clever tie-in to Easter.  Not exactly charitable of me, but better than issuing a fatwa against them.  In fact, it triggered one of those serendipitous cascade of ideas that lead to "What Zombies Don't Know".
