NO ASSIST TO MISS BLISS
Our editor Bridget observed an interesting event at our home in Heritage Hill around eight o'clock this morning. A crew from Rosalynn Bliss's campaign for 2nd Ward commissioner stopped by and posted a large "Vote for Bliss" sign in our front yard. Neither Bridget nor I asked Ms. Bliss to do this, so perhaps her crew just got the wrong address. However, they didn't come to the door first to confirm our acceptance of the campaign sign and they scattered when Bridget went to look at what all the commotion was about in the front yard.
Perhaps it was prank. After all, one of the ways the Bliss campaign has promoted her is by directing voters to google her name on the internet and see what comes up. When you do this, what does come up prominently is the Local Area Watch's less-than-flattering commentary on Ms. Bliss's supporters. Of course, commenting on her supporters is not the same as commenting on Ms. Bliss and her suitability for the job she is campaigning for.
The fact is, the Local Area Watch endorses no one in this or any election. That is why Bridget promptly removed Ms. Bliss's sign from our front yard. However, Ms. Bliss can be assured that her sign is safe and sound and ready to be returned whenever she wants it.
Finally, dear readers, remember that today is election day for a host of municipal primaries in the area. If you know what's going on and have an opinion, go and pull a lever. If you don't know or don't care, don't vote. Don't let anyone sell you on the idea that it's more responsible to vote than not to vote when you have no interest in the outcome of an election. A proper respect for your right to vote is not use it frivolously.
